Was for Rasheed’s birthday last month. It was a scary process.
I was going to bake a chocolate cake at first, but when I came across Can You Stay For Dinner‘s (my favourite food blog ever) recipe for Peanut Butter Blondies with Chocolate Ganache, there’s no way I couldn’t make it into a cake – peanut butter, chocolate ganache, *and* chocolate chips? Rasheed’s favourite things all in one.
I made a few alterations to the recipe, just decided to sift the flour for more moisture, reduced the amount of choc chips, and used crunchy peanut butter instead of soft. I also made a basic buttercream icing to which I added a few drops of green food colouring to write happy birthday with and spread around the sides. It. Was. Delicious.
The day of his birthday was kind of hectic, so I didn’t finish decorating the cake until like 9pm, or later. I was freaking out because I had never decorated a cake before, and using a ziploc bag to write with was hard and very messy. After a lot of sweat and tears, I realized the end result was worth it. I surprised Rasheed with it and he loved it
